About PoGoBud
Free: no payment, no subscription, no ads.
A free tool that tells you which Pokemon to bring to a Raid or Max Battle, and how to build the rest of your team.
What it is
Pick a boss and PoGoBud ranks the Pokemon that beat it fastest, with the moves to use. It also has a Pokebox (your own Pokemon, ranked against today's bosses), a PvP rankings, Team GO Rocket line-ups, a calendar of current and upcoming bosses, and a Pokedex.
It is free: no payment, no subscription, no ads. You can use almost everything without an account; an account only saves your Pokebox and parties.
PoGoBud is a fan-made tool, not affiliated with Niantic, Nintendo or The Pokemon Company. Pokemon and Pokemon GO are trademarks of their respective owners.
How the numbers are computed
Raid and Max Battle times are not a simple damage-per-second ranking. Each attacker fights the boss in a turn-by-turn simulation (fast and charged moves, energy, the boss's own moves and dodging, weather, friendship and party bonuses, fainting and re-lobbying) and the result is averaged over many random runs. PvP rankings simulate every league-legal Pokemon against the field in several shield scenarios. Game constants (level multipliers, boss HP, tier multipliers, timings) are written down in one file with a note of where each came from.
These are estimates. Real battles vary with lag, dodging skill and the exact party. Treat the order as a guide, not a promise.
Where the data comes from
- Pokemon, moves, types and stats: the Pokemon GO Game Master, as published by the PokeMiners community. A snapshot is stored with the site, so it works even when those sources are down.
- Current and upcoming bosses, events, Team GO Rocket line-ups: read every day from the official Pokemon GO news, plus other public Pokemon GO schedules for what the news does not list (the weekly raid rotation, Raid and Spotlight Hours, Rocket line-ups), credited on the licenses page.
- PvP methodology and editors' ratings: follow PvPoke.
- Validation: raid rankings are checked against Pokebattler and PvP rankings against PvPoke. Neither supplies our data; they are the yardsticks.
See Data for what is loaded and how fresh it is.
How it compares with Pokebattler and PvPoke
Pokebattler and PvPoke are the established tools in this space and this site is checked against them: raid rankings against Pokebattler's published ones, PvP rankings and matchups against PvPoke. They are independent projects, and PoGoBud is not affiliated with either. Where we differ, trust their long track record first. The accuracy page shows the boss-by-boss comparison, including where we are off.
